Spring Break

For the first time in I can’t remember when I had a weekend off. No plans, no work. Being a photographer I work almost entirely weekends. So when you have most of the week off to edit, meet with clients, and handle the day to day of the business, you have to work nearly every weekend. Sure in the past I have taken time off, either for a special event, or vacation, etc. But they are almost all planned, and often times event and activity filled weekends. This weekend I was able to just spend time with my boyfriend, Jon, and relax, we went out to eat, shopping, cleaned the house-which was more fun than work, and just watched movies. There were no plans, no to do list, just whatever we wanted to do we did. For a few days, other than in some conversations I put the business aside. When your office is your home, and your life is your career and your passion, its sometimes hard to separate the two and take time off. Even on vacation or out with friends, I am photographing, and I love it. But some days it’s nice to remember who you are besides a photographer. And it can give you a new energy and out look on the world. So to all you fellow photographers remember ever once in a while take a moment for yourself put the camera down and just be in the moment, not capturing the moment.

This weekend was the perfect weekend to take a break. The newspaper is slow, wedding season hasn’t quite begun yet, it’s the start of March, we were given an extra day this year, and Spring is in the air. The snow started to melt, the sun came out and temperatures were above 50 degrees-finally light jacket weather. I felt like a bear waking from hibernation. I am excited at what March and the rest of the season holds. In a couple short weeks I will be in Denver photographing two wonderful couples for their engagement sessions! And right after that Jon and I will be going on a short trip to an undisclosed location. He wants to surprise me with where we are going, but had to let me know we were going somewhere so I could clear my calendar. I’d love to hear your thoughts on where you think we are going. I know its in the continental US and probably warm, pretty sure there is a beach. Oh and we are flying Jet Blue so one of the destinations they fly. But beyond that your guess is as good as mine. Well I will post photos of the secret trip and of the two engagements when I return March 23. (Between the two trips I will be gone March 13-March 23)

To future brides, grooms, and other clients, I will be checking email and voice mail the entire time I am gone, and will try to get back to you as soon as I can. I still have a limited number of 2008 weekends available for weddings, including the popular 8-8-08, but please contact me soon, as they are going fast! I look forward to hearing from you all.
